[Issue] Serious bug with rotated polygons with text

Post by martin_g »

Documents that contain a polygon with text which is rotated are not displayed correctly on OO 4.1.1 and 4.1.2 -- see attached screenshot and sample document! With (Oracle) OO 3.3.0 the document is rendered correctly.

Additional information: If you draw a polygon, add text to it and then rotate it OO 4.1.x does it right. But when you save the document and load it again the text in the polygon is not rotated any more!

The file seems to be saved correctly, but somehow the text isn't displayed with the proper rotation after re-loading the file. The problem affects AOO versions at least as far back as AOO401. I see the same problem in OO Draw.

As Tibor points out, LO loads and displays the file properly.

I don't see a report on this for either AOO Draw or Impress.

The problem seems to be with the posted file. I can make a similar file using Xubuntu and it behaves correctly after a save and reload.

I don't think it's the file. I made my own and see the same problem.

Doesn't Xubuntu use LibO? LibO seems to not be affected by this problem.
 Edit: PS:
Here are the steps (in Draw or Impress):
Create a polygon (line tool/palette > polygon ...)
Add text: double-click & type
Rotate the object: Format > Position & Size > Rotation ...
Save the file
File > Reload
The object is rotated correctly but the text is not.

Here is one I have just made in Draw. It saved, reloaded and rotated.

LibO is available with Xubuntu, but I use OO for stability and traditional interface.

That's a shape not a polygon.

The problem seems to only affect polygons (poly-lines, more correctly, I think). You can check what kind of object is selected by looking at the left side of the status bar. Polylines are created from the "Curve tool" on the Drawing toolbar, or by making a shape then Modify > Convert > To polygon (OO Impress: right-click > Convert > To polygon).

OK, I'm finding the same thing now that I'm using a polygon. I tried changing the rotation, moving the polygon then undoing the move. On reopening the polygon was back to normal.

Right. The saved file has the proper rotation. It seem that, on loading, the rotation stored in the file is applied to the object (but not the text label) and then removed: the re-loaded object has its points in the correctly-rotated positions, but if I check the rotation value, it's reset to zero.

And, then, on saving the re-loaded file for the second time, the new file has lost the rotation data.

I went ahead and filed an issue for it:
Issue 126873: rotated polygons lose rotation on re-loading file

I don't think so. I opened the original document (created with OO 3.3.0) with AOO 4.1.2 and saved it again. Then I opened it with OO 3.3.0 and now the text is shown incorrect, too. I've compared the "content.xml" of both documents (before and after saving with AOO 4.1.2) and I found the following differences:

Code: Select all

orig: <draw:page draw:name="page1" draw:style-name="dp1" draw:master-page-name="Standard">
re-saved: <draw:page draw:name="page1" draw:style-name="dp1" draw:master-page-name="Standard"
          presentation:presentation-page-layout-name="AL1T0">
--
orig: <draw:polygon draw:style-name="gr1" draw:text-style-name="P2" draw:layer="layout"
          svg:width="14.499cm" svg:height="2.499cm" draw:transform="rotate (0.7853981633973)
          translate (7.73959235991435cm 11.992640687123cm)" svg:viewBox="0 0 14500 2500"
          draw:points="2500,0 12000,0 14500,2500 0,2500">
re-saved: <draw:polygon draw:style-name="gr1" draw:text-style-name="P2" draw:layer="layout"
          svg:width="10.252cm" svg:height="10.252cm" svg:x="9.507cm" svg:y="3.507cm"
          svg:viewBox="0 0 10253 10253" draw:points="0,6718 6718,0 10253,0 0,10253">

Right. The file is correct (I think) the first time it's saved after the polygon is created & rotated. The next time the file is loaded, the rotation value from the file is lost*. When the file is then saved again, the file has lost the rotation value also.

* The only visible effect at this point is the text label is no longer rotated.
