making tabs in 2.3 v 2.4

I was making tabs for a navigation bar in Impress OO v 2.3 and was able to select individual tabs and save them out as a jpg. However, I then updated to v 2.4 and was no longer able to create tabs select them and export them individually as jpg any longer so I reverted back to 2.3 and it worked just fine. Why?
