I have never understood how applying changes to a Slide Master successfully translates to changes in slides in an Impress document. I can never get it to work properly.
Currently, I would like to make the text on a slide (in the AutoLayout area in the Slide Master) smaller. So I go into Edit Master and make the text at various Bullet levels smaller. First level is at about 30 point. Then I go back to my slides, but the Object Text in a Text box is still too big (35 point, when I check it in the character menu).
So I try all the options, Apply the Slide Master to all slides, Format>Default Formatting, but I can't get anything to work.
I have only one Slide Master in my MAster Pages dialogue.
And I'm out of ideas. A quick scan of previously answered questions doesn't find any similar issues that others have had.

Re: Changes to Slide Master not being applied to Slides
What you describe sounds like a style: the bulleted text on a slide should be formatted according to a style, and changing the formatting on the master slide should change the style and all the slides that use it.
I think that's how it's supposed to work, but I've had very little success actually getting it to work that way.
You may have better results by just changing the style directly, although I still haven't figured out what style actually applies to what items on a slide. Impress seems to use a separate style for each outline level, but then each style has settings for all ten levels ...
