[Solved] Can't find Templates installed in Extension pkg ...

Post by MellowDios »

Hi all,

I'm new to the OpenOffice community forum. I've searched this topic, but nothing I found solved the issue.

I installed an Extension called Modern Impress Templates 1.0.1. It appears in Extension Manager, but the Templates themselves don't show up in My Templates, or anywhere else that I can find. I've restarted OpenOffice, even rebooted my Mac, but nothing.

This is the first time I've used Impress, There are a few Extensions I'd like to try, but I don't really understand how they work. Are they supposed to show up as menu items in Impress? In general, how do I access them? And in particular, is there something I'm doing wrong in not being able to find these Extension Templates.

Btw, I installed some other Templates by simply importing them into My Templates, and that worked fine.

Any help and a bit of explanation from someone more knowledgeable than I, would be much appreciated. :)

Thanks,

-Wayne

After your posting, I downloaded and installed Modern impress Templates; when I open Impress, /File /Templates /Organise, they show up under folder Presentations. There are two other folder entries My Templates and Presentation backgrounds.

Extensions behave diferently for each extension: for Impress, the two essential extensions are Presentation Minimiser, which shows up on Impress /Tools menu, as Minimise Presentation and Presenter Console.

Presenter Console does not show up until a projector (or other display as a pseudo projector - an old monitor is useful for testing/setup) is connected to the external video connection (I'm thinking VGA connector; I have a vague memory of reports of HDMI connector sometimes giving problems); one can set the presenter and console screens from Impress /Slide Show /Slide Show Settings in the Multiple Monitor section. It is sometimes good to connect and turn on (pseudo) Projector first, allow it 20/30 seconds to come on, then power up laptop. This startup sequence can vary from laptop to laptop and projector to projector; it is worth playing with at home to get the hang of it, rather than in front of an audience.

There they are! Mixed in with the two Presentations that came with the OOo install. Go figger!

I swear they weren't there before, but I've been developing a presentation and have opened and closed the software many times. Anyway, now I know where to look, though as you say, where extensions show up will depend on the type.

Thanks for responding, and for your help.

Cheers,
