Hello everybody,
there seems to be bug in Impress 2.4 with the direction of radial gradients. When I use a radial gradient, e.g. the predefined "Radial green/black" gradient, as page background or object area, it appears with a black center that becomes green to the outward. So far so good. However, when I now switch to slide show (F5), I see the exact opposite (green center becoming black to the outward). Is this a bug, or wrong setting somewhere? I searched "Issue tracking" but found nothing. Interestingly, OO 3.0beta behaves correctly with the same gradient in edit mode and slide show. Does anybody have a workaround for 2.4, since I would prefer sticking with stable for now?
Best, cj0010

Re: Direction of radial gradients in Impress 2.4 - bug?
You're absolutely right; I see it as well.
Impress has huge problems with gradient settings; there are a ton of issues where it gets the gradient reversed, mostly coming back to this one: Issue 70102: impress interpretes gradient wrong in ppt import.
However, I don't see any issues that exactly match yours. You might take a look also, and if you still don't see it reported already, file a new issue.

Interestingly, I can't replicate this on my XP machine.
OOo 3.3 on Windows 7 & 3.2.1 on Mint 10
Re: Direction of radial gradients in Impress 2.4 - bug?
@acknack: The present issue has been reported earlier (http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=71367). It will be corrected for 3.0.
@Cambirder: You're right, I don't see this either on XP. Strange indeed.

I can't reproduce this with Sun OOo 2.4 on Ubuntu though.
Edit: Nor do I see it with Mepis. |

Re: Direction of radial gradients in Impress 2.4 - bug?
Good catch! I missed that one.@acknack: The present issue has been reported earlier...
However, I don't think that's the same bug. The description there says nothing about the gradient being reversed, and it was verified as happening with Windows as well, which this seems not to.
Something strange is going on if this bug affects some Linux distros and not others, when both are running the same OO.org code.
Maybe an interaction with the X server?
The Fedora people responsible for their OOo packages are very good. The best bet might be to post a report on http://bugzilla.redhat.com, and get their response.
Can someone do that? Leave a link here if you do.

Re: [Issue] Direction of radial gradients in Impress 2.4
Workaround: Disabling hardware acceleration "solves" the problem (deselect Tools->Options->OpenOffice.org->View->Use hardware acceleration...).

Nice! Works the same for me also.
Good catch!
