How do I bypass edit mode for slide presentation?

Postby lunixgeek » Fri Apr 25, 2008 6:56 pm

I am using OpenOffice
running on SUSE 10.3

I need Impress to open up and close as a slide show and not in the edit mode
where I have to start it manually. I know about the command line
option to do this. Namely: soffice -impress -show "$@"
adding the show option. However, it flashes for a moment
in the edit mode and then goes on as I would like it.
However, upon close of the presentation I am back in the
edit mode and it always tells me that the slide has been modified
(which it hasn't) and asks me if I want to save the changes.

This did not happen with earlier versions of OpenOffice.

I have read the forums but there is a lot of words and no solutions
that I could find to date.

If anyone has substantive comments I would like to hear from you.

Hi and welcome to the community!

I think there is no way to bypass the edit mode.

But the behavior that you mention about asking to save changes although there aren't any is a known issue. See this thread for details.

So you must either revert to OOo 2.3.1, or wait for 2.4.1 where the issue should be fixed.
