It could be your X11 setup. Try to tweak that or to upgrade to OOo 2.4.0.

Check your
1. X11 driver
2. X11 configuration
3. Xinerama setup
4. Whether you have your dual head setup as spanning or individual desktops

I don't have the exact answer (and I hardly use dual head), but I think it's in there somewhere. :)

Maybe the people on the OpenSUSE forum have an answer? If you find it, post it here too. :)

I run into the same problem.

I'm running Kubuntu 8.03 and the following software:
    * KDE4 (KDE3.5.9: same result!)
    * Compiz (without compiz: same result!)
    * Nvidia Driver: NVIDIA UNIX x86_64 Kernel Module 169.12
    * openoffice.org-impress 1:2.4.0-3ubuntu3

Hardware: GeForce 7800 GT configured with Twinview in xorg:
Code: Select all   Expand viewCollapse view
Section "Device"
        Identifier      "Videocard0"
        Driver          "nvidia"
        VendorName      "NVIDIA Corporation"
        BoardName       "GeForce 7800 GT"
        BusID           "PCI:1:0:0"
        Option          "AddARGBVisuals" "True"
        Option          "AddARGBGLXVisuals" "True"
        Option          "NoLogo" "True"
EndSection

Section "Screen"
        Identifier      "Screen0"
        Device          "Videocard0"
        Monitor         "Monitor0"
        DefaultDepth    24
        Option          "TwinView" "1"
        Option          "metamodes" "DFP-0: 1600x1200 +0+0, DFP-1: 1600x1200 +1600+0; DFP-0: 1280x1024 +0+0, DFP-1: nvidia-auto-select +1280+0; DFP-0: 1152x864 +0+0, DFP-1: nvidia-auto-select +1152+0; DFP-0: 1024x768 +0+0, DFP-1: nvidia-auto-select +1024+0; DFP-0: 800x600 +0+0, DFP-1: nvidia-auto-select +800+0; DFP-0: 640x480 +0+0, DFP-1: nvidia-auto-select +640+0"
        SubSection "Display"
                Depth           24
        EndSubSection
EndSection

I noticed the following behavior when starting an Impress presentation (.odp):

Scenario 1: Impress window on left screen, starting slide show (F5):
Code: Select all   Expand viewCollapse view
+------------++------------+
|      $~~~~~||~~~~~$      |
|      $     ||     $      |
|      $     ||     $      |
|      $_____||_____$      |
+------------++------------+

-> Full screen presentation in the middle of both screens!

Scenario 2: Impress on the right screen or full-screen on screen 1 results in this:
Code: Select all   Expand viewCollapse view
+------------++------------+
|            ||     $~~~~~~|
|            ||     $      |
|            ||     $      |
|            ||     $______|
+------------++------------+

-> Full screen presentation appears on second screen, first half.

Funny thing: busy cursor is positioned correctly at bottom-left of screen 1 or 2, respectively

I think, my xorg-configuration cannot be the bad guy as it worked some time ago with older OOo versions.

A similar problem is described here: http://www.oooforum.org/forum/viewtopic.phtml?p=281790

Any help, hints, etc would be appreciated!

Cheers,
Dave

Here is a query of defects in Impress with activity in the last 60 days. Do you see your problem listed? If not, make your own query. If not, report the bug to the Issue Tracker there, and then post the bug issue link here.

I'm curious if the problem exists in the 32-bit vanilla edition (without Ubuntu's modifications).

Probably true, but there could be something that OpenOffice.org is now more sensitive to which causes this kind of "allergic reaction."
