Hello.

I have a quick question. I built an Impress file and then went to "saveas" and checked power point. For some reason, I still have an odp extension and I can't open my presentation with Power Point. Any ideas on what I did wrong?

When you do File > Save As and you see the file dialog window, check that the option "Automatic file extension" (or something like that), down at the bottom of that window, is checked (ON). Then select the PowerPoint file type, file name and OK. That should give you a correctly named output file.
