Sound on Impress slideshows

Post by roneljansen »

My Impress slideshows contain backgrounds, pictures, text as well as music (an important necessity to tell a story perfectly). When I forward these slideshows to friends (also using Openoffice), no one can hear the music. I have also tried to save it as a PowerPoint format, but that doesn't help either. What can I (and other users) do to make sure that the recipient receives the slideshow in exactly the same way as that it was created, including all the music (mp3's).
I am using Open Office 3.2 on Windows XP

The surest way is to use Powerpoint or get them to use OpenOffice. Sound does not transfer well (at all?) between Impress and Powerpoint or contrariwise.
Edit: As far as I know, included sound and video are _linked_ in Impress, not embedded. My normal procedure for making a portable presentation including videos is to make a directory (folder) of the same name as the presentation, and include in it all the components for that presentation. Then I can just move that folder to laptop and all is well.
