[Solved] Printing slide notes leaving gap at top of page

Post by SVS »

I am printing my presentation slide notes as portrait sheets, and for some reason a large gap is being placed at the top of each page, causing the bottoms of my notes to be cut off. Would like to have that gap removed.

I was hoping to include a screenshot of the preview pane, to show exactly what I'm talking about. Not sure if / how I can do that.

Uplad a max. 128 KiB size image.
Use the Send Reply (but not the Quick Reply) for your post.
You will found the Upload Attachment TAB under the post edit window.

And please upload a small, ODF type sample file here. Then we will able to examine the page settings, the embedded objects.

Unfortunately, the smallest odp I can create is still 236 KiB. Would be happy to email it as an attachment...

(The 128 KiB restriction is truly silly if you think about it. I mean, really?)

If an ONE-PAGE saple file is larger than 128 KiB, then it contains huge, unoptimized images.

How we can examine the settings on the TAB General, Page Layout, Options; and all of the other settings - based on one attached image? What are the Slide size and the paper Page size values?

Please prepare a copy of your document, and upload it here. (Delete the some parts of a COPY of your document.)

I can send you my email address, but others will not see your sample file, therefore they will not able to help you.

At a guess, without having a hands-on actual sample file, you need to a): check the Page layout tab in /File /Print dialog and verify the "Brochure" is not selected. And b): on /File /Print /General, press the Properties button and verify that on the "Paper" tab the Paper size selection is correct (Letter, probably) and also the Orientation is Portrait.

I have decreased the color depth of the embedded image to 4 colors.
Now I can upload the sample file here:

Confirmed that brochure is not selected, paper size is "letter", and orientation is "portrait".

I realized that I am using OO 4.1.7. There may be a newer release that I should be using?

When I examine the file Zizi64 up-loaded, I find that, when I select the Notes tab, /Format /Page shows the page size defined as User, Width 21.00 cm, Height 29.70 cm, Orientation Landscape. Change this to A4 page, Orientation Portrait.
Now, I think, all should be well.

I cannot say why this problem has occurred (no time at present to analyse, other work to do), but that is a fix (at least on my computers)

Yes! Thank you so much. Couldn't see where that setting was being made.

All is well. I appreciate the help...
