Impress problem: Video won't play but audio does??

Hi

I am trying to embed an MP4 video into a slide presntation. The video is inserted but wont play, all I get is the sound.

I have tried several MP4 files with the same result every time - sound but no video .

Any suggestions please

I have had this problem for a long time and tried to find a solution. All my video clip works with ALL OTHER PROGRAMS but not with Impress.
It is strange that this problem not is solved!
I will now use another program

There is not such OpenOffice version today. The LibreOffice has such version.
What is your default video/media player application? The LO and the AOO will use the default player. Try to use the free VLC player.

Can you link/share a problematic video file here?

My default video player is the windows media player. Threre isnt a problem with my specific MP4 file as no MP4 files will play!!

If I download the codec file how shall this be installed? Must I ”connect” this codec file to Impress in some way?

Just install it by running its .exe file. It may be that you should restart Windows (cold boot) so that it finds all the new codecs, which are mostly selected automatically by applications that need them, once Windows knows about them (this is te reason for my advice to restart Windows).

Yes, done that. When I insert the video into a new slide and then save the presentaion the video is missing when I open up the .pptx file. How odd??

PPTX??? Why you use a foreign file type?
Use the native, international standard ODF file types: .odp for the Impress.
