You can make a shape with rounded corners and fill its area with an image. On the Drawing toolbar there is an icon for basic shapes and the one for rounded corners is the fourth from the left in the top row of the attached image. The yellow dot on the shape allows you to adjust the rounding. Right clicking in the shape and choosing Area takes you to the dialog where you can fill the image with a bitmap.

Will I need to resize the image first to the size of the shape?

Or can I do it on the fly some how? Bc when I do the image is too big inside the shape.

the image is too big inside the shape.
It is better to optimize the images (with a third party software) before you insert them into an ODF document. The too high size and resolution will increase the file size only, because the resizing in the OO/LO will not change the pixel data quantity.

Please, edit the initial post in the topic: add the word [Solved] at the beginning of the subject line - if your problem has been solved.

How do I know the pixel size on OOI?

It only shows in inches
