Print from Impress is at 97% size
Hi, Impress does not print with the original dimension, even if the parameter Original dimension is set. I also tried to print to PDF and the dimensions are still not correct.
Impress prints at 97% of the original dimension, both to printer and to PDF.
Any solution? The page format is 21cm x 26cm, margin left 0,40cm, right 0,40, top 0,50cm, bottom 0,50cm.
Thank you for help.

Re: Printing from Impress
As a quick guess, try setting your printer paper to (US) Letter, which is 8.5" ( 21.6 cm) rather than 21.0 cm; most printers won't print to the very edges of the paper.

Re: Printing from Impress
I have tried with printer paper Letter, always dimension 97% of the original. The margins are changed respect the previous print-out: left now (Letter) 0.35cm before (A4) 0.65cm, right now 1.1cm before 0.7cm. Top margin not varied, 0.9cm instead of 0.50cm.
I printed the same presentation correctly some months ago.

Re: Printing from Impress
If I may ask, why does strict 100% reproduction matter from a presentation?

Because I have to paste the print-out on a formatted sheet in a folder.

Re: Printing from Impress
I suggest a possible workaround - try /File /Export as PDF; select Initial View tab and tweak the Zoom factor setting at the bottom to say 103%, which should give output as you require.

Re: Printing from Impress
I tried with the 103% zoom, but the object in pdf is 97% of the object in Impress again. It seems that Impress exports or prints without taking into consideration the margins.
The object in the slide has a width of 20.2 cm, left and right margin 0.4, total is 21 cm, A4 width. Impress prints or exports a page of 20,2 cm of width, without taking into consideration the margins and reduces the object of 97%. May be I am becoming crazy.

A slide show is not intended to be printed but just projected.
Did you used "Handout" tab? For me the best way.

Re: Printing from Impress
It is not a presentation, I have to generate a print-out.
I read another conversation in this forum with another printing problem, so I created a completely new Impress presentation with a new object with 20.2 width, set A4 page with 0.4 left and right margin, original dimension in the parameters, printer property A4 and no proportion: again the object has been printed with 19.4 width.
I also printed to PDF, same result.
Thank you for help, I do not want to pass to powerpoint, I hate powerpoint.

Well, 0.4cm seems very small. Remember that exist the "physical" margins outside of which a printer cannot draw.stevenshorts wrote:set A4 page with 0.4 left and right margin

Re: Printing from Impress
But if I print to PDF, I obtain the same reduction.
I had the same problem both with version 4.1.8 and 4.1.7, and until last January I have never had this problem. May be I introduced some images which provoked the problem, but when I created the new presentation (attached above) I got the same result.
Now I modified the new presentation in this way: object width 18cm, default margin 1cm left right top bottom.
Result: printed object width 17.5 cm. Impress does not print the original dimension. I need a fix of the software.

I don't understand what you means.stevenshorts wrote:But if I print to PDF, I obtain the same reduction.
An export to PDF is correct for me: What I supposed to see?

A quick workaround: take your printed copy to local copyshop and copy at 103%. Bear in mind that paper expands/contracts with humidity, so by the time you get it home it may have a different measurement.
