[Solved] Leaving presentation mode Impress jumps to 1st page

Post by Starszy »

Hi all!

Leaving the presentation mode using the presenter or the ESC key, Impress jumps most time to the first page.
This ist very annoying.

Is there a hint how can I avoid this?

If I left the presentation mode, it would be useful that if I continue with F5, Impress starts with the last used page.

Appendix: Dual-monitor system (monitor and beamer).

In presentation mode, pressing B or "." blacks or unblacks the scree, pressing W or "," Whites or unwhites the screen. Press the (Help) location on the Presenter Console for some Console related help. Use of these may avoid you having to exit and resume your presentation.

Unfortunately I'll need to exit the presentation mode to show something others on the beamer (like a live screen from an android phone) and then resume with presentation.

Something strange: when I work in single-screen mode, everything works.
Only in dual-screen mode (with beamer) do I always end up on the first slide ...

Possibly (I haven't investigated) you could, before your presentation, open a second workspace/desktop with your live screen utility, and then, in the presentation, use a key sequence to switch between workspaces, so there would be no need to exit your presentation.
Edit: Or perhaps, switch to another User for the live insertion, then back to you (not investigated)

Thank you - both ideas sounds interesting.

W10 has a build-in option called "Fast User Switching" - I'll try it. If it works, it would be very helpful.

A second workspace sounds also interesting. But what is the "live screen utility"?

By "Live screen utility" I meant whatever application you were using to display your android phone or whatever was causing you to leave your presentation.

Ok, I understand.

Also an interesting idea. I'll check it and I'll report.

It may be sufficient to insert a hyperlink in your presentation to the instance of your android phone (or whatever); this will effectively incorporate that into your Presentation, without any need to leave the presentation. The transition and return may be a bit clunky, but I suspect less clunky than exiting Impress and then returning to it.

The second workspace/desktop suggestion works fine :bravo: :super: much better than expected :D

In the past, I leave the presentation mode and starts the android screen mirroring tool called scrcpy.
Then I quit the screen mirroring, and resume the presentation mode - and I'm on the first page ...

With this solution there is no need to quit screen mirroring, I simply switch the desktop :super: :super:

Thank you very much for this helpful suggestion !!
