[Solved] Customize F3 to do File → Save

Post by koden »

Edit: Split from another solved topic -- MrProgrammer, forum moderator

If I would like to have F3 key to do the ctrl+s.
How do I set that in keyboard...
have looked and difficult to understand how it works and if it's possible.

I would just save changes with F3, or other one key hit, instead of ctrl+s which is a 2 finger operation.

Found it... shortkey: F3, category: documents, Function: save

Thats fine an easy...

off course the best have been a automatic save in exactly that document, every time there has been a change in CALC document, or just automaticly every minute.

If OpenOffice came customised for every individual request, i t would be unusable. Every minute automatic Saves might make it unresponsive - large files can take several minutes to Save, and the user has to develop a method of working that allows him get something done.

yes I understand. But this is not a large file.
Just a calc document where lots of numbers is scanned to.

I have the backup enabled, so it's no big problem.
Would just be nice to have the "old aut. save" function from MS office.

Your file might not be large now, but you never know about the future.
My movie database started out as a 5k file, fairly small, but now is over 30M in size. Significantly bigger.

Change to the LibreOffice and you will able to use the macro what I proposed you in an another topic:

Thanks... but I have a large setup that I would have to change...
Maybe after the "work" season in my company :-)

There is very little in OpenOffice that doesn't work exactly the same in LibreOffice.
You can install both on the same system or install a portable version of LibreOffice for testing purposes.
