Create barcode with multiple tabs and/or CR @ the end

Post by dreamquartz »

Hi All,

Trying to figure out how 2 to go about the following:
Client is selling different products and wants to use his accounting software called QuickBooks 2019 Desktop PRO (QB) on a Windows 10 machine with a scanner.
Now there is a nice video on Youtube about how to 'fool' this program in accepting barcodes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=atGCxCqM4a4.
Yes, the Client is NOT willing to pay for any of the versions of QB that provide the functionality for a scanner (way to expensive).

The Client is hoping to do the following
Scan product barcode (either 39 or 128 or QR) into the memory of the scanner, and upload the information into either Calc or Writer.
The reason for that is that QB is not always running.
Now the scanned items need to be processed all into a barcode again, the moment the 'sale' needs to be processed in QB to do the accounting and inventory adjustment.

The problem with QB is that it processes data as per record (or row).
Dependant on the Sales Receipt (SR) that is to be sent to the 'purchaser', multiple items are to be listed if so required.
It is therefore needed that the cursor comes into the correct current (and after that in to next) field where the product number is to placed, to show the description, pricing et cetera.

Dependant on how many items are to be shown on a SR, potentially multiple 'TABs' and/or 'Carriage Returns' need to be included in the creation of the modified barcode suited for QB.

Example:
barcode of product, by scanning: 055500557943
barcode(s) uploaded into either Calc or Writer, with CR as terminator, leading to a vertical listing, when adding more barcodes
modify barcode to add i.e. 2x TAB at the end
create modified barcodes, to be uploaded directly into the product number filed in QB.

The Client has no issue to scan all the 'modified' barcodes again into now QB, for processing.

I have tried multiple options, all added to LO (QR-Code JS...; QR and Barcode...; Barcode...) but nothing creates what is needed.

Tried using different fonts in Writer and different columns of Calc, and fiddled around with the different indicated possibilities like '~009', '\t', $M...., but nothing seems to work.

Therefore 3 questions:
1; Is there a way to add multiple TABs and/or CRs at the end of a scanned barcode
2. Is there a way to create a barcode from that 'new' barcode
3. is there a way to automate the process of creating multiple barcodes uploaded at once in either Calc or Writer

Please advise,

Dream

Save time and upload sample file of what you expect.
Client process flow has nothing to do with Libreoffice
Be specific to what you want to get from Libreoffice / QR code.

P.s. Did not understand "add multiple Tabs at end of Barcode"
Pls elaborate with example.

Sorry to be so blunt, but did you just fiddled around or read some docs and tried to get checksums right?

And nothing seems to work is not very precise...
As pharmakur wrote: Show us what you tried, maybe somebody can make sense of it.
Tell wich standard you tried and where your problems start.
