[Dropped] Version 4.1.1 not reading files, keeps crashing

I have had Open Office version 4.1.1 since 2014 and have had quite a few issues but have always managed to resolve them. However every time I try to open a new file I get an error and it crashes. I am using a Mac Laptop Big Sur, but the problem has only started in the last week or so. Someone has suggested changing my profile but I am unclear how to do that on my Mac as the instructions don't seem clear in the link. If anyone could help that would be great. thanks

AOO 4.1.1 was released more than seven years ago and long before Mac OS 11. You might want to consider upgrading to a later release of AOO, though that may not help with the problem you've reported. If you attach your file demonstrating the difficulty (remove confidential information then use Post Reply, not Quick Reply, and don't attach a picture instead of the document itself), someone else can try to reproduce the problem.

I do not experience difficulties opening files. Read these posts from others. Perhaps one will match your symptoms. If you solve the problem, I am interested in how you did that so I can update Mac FAQ.
