[Solved] Copy/adjust formulas in table

Post by DrMartinus »

Hi,

I have a table within a text document which contains a calculation in the last column. Since the table has many rows, I would prefer to have the calculation in the first cell of that column copied (and adjusted) to the cells underneath, like can be done in Calc. Is there a way to do this? I tried to find a solution, but didn't. I'm pretty sure that I am not the only one wanting to do this, so I guess the answer is out there. Hence a pointer (link) would suffice.

Thank you for your patience and help!

Unfortunately, Writer doesn't have the same cell auto-fill feature as Calc, but there is a workaround using formulas. You can copy the formula from the first cell and paste it into the remaining cells in the column. When pasted, the formula will adjust relative to the new row.

Here's the process:

Click on the cell with the formula.
Press Ctrl+C to copy.
Select the cells where you want to paste the formula.
Press Ctrl+V to paste.

Thanks for your reply, but that doesn't work. It fills the other cells with the value that is in the first cell, not with the formula.

Ah, I see. My mistake was that I selected only the numbers, not the entire cell. Thank you! This way it works!
