[Solved] Greek letter delta: δ versus Δ

Post by mtnylmz »

I would like to create Greek character delta as a its triangle form but it appears to be something different instead of a triangle. Would you please explain how to do it?

I use %delta in Math window.

Edit: Changed subject, was Greek character delta as a triangle?

Perhaps you have a localisation issue? https://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Docume ... 0.93_Greek

Otherwise, what does "something different instead of a triangle" really mean?

Perhaps the triangle is a capital delta, and the "something different" is a lower=case curly delta, similar to 6 mirrored left to right?

Sorry for wrong explanation. It is this symbol δ. Rory is right. I used %Delta to make an upper-case one but it doesn't work. Would you please explain how to create an upper-case delta?

Forums are still peer-to-peer. If you find a solution to your problem on your own, always post it to the benefit of other users having the issue and looking for help.

Here the generalzing info: Names of greek letters with the prefix "%" are case sensitive and must be all-upper-case or all-lower-case, and will then result in that case. Using mixed case the construct isn't interpreted at all.

To help users to find the answer concerning Greek letters in Math you may consider to edit the topic of the thread. A suggestion: Greek letters in Math: How to get upper/lower case?
On Windows 10: LibreOffice 24.2 (new numbering) and older versions, PortableOpenOffice 4.1.7 and older, StarOffice 5.2
