[Solved] AOO Stuck in Recovery Mode

Post by Drewoa »

Every time I start the app I get the blank beginning doc or spreadsheet. Click anywhere on the document (spreadsheet) the app freezes and says it is not responding. If I try anything else the program locks and I get the message Open Office is Not Responding - Close Program.Tried several suggestions from various OO threads but the problem remains Even tried removing, rebooting, and reinstalling OO. Same problem. Nothing works. I am running OO Ver 4.1.13 on a Windows 11 Dell. Plenty of disc space, plenty of ROM.
Any help is appreciated.

Have you tried to reset your OpenOffice user profile?

Else, switch to LibreOffice.

Please add [Solved] at the beginning of the title in your first post (top of the topic) with the 🖉 button if your issue has been fixed.

If you try LibreOffice and find it doesn't suit you, then you need to start some faultfinding with your installation of OpenOffice; the first step is to start Windows in Safe Mode (look up how to do this). Then run OpenOffice; if it runs stable in that Windows mode, the problem is probably some program or driver that is run in Windows normal mode, but not in Windows Safe mode. Finding that program or driver necessitates a lot of detective work.

Thanks for replying Hagar Delest and RoryOF. Seems things took care of them selves. I hate it when this happens with no explanations. After a good night's sleep (computer) I can open, print, edit, etc. Did not have a chance to try what was suggested but when things are working I do not try to fix them.
Thanks again for your suggestions.
