I'm getting more apps now saying I need to download updates to the printer but there aren't any more
Then this printer problem would not be an OpenOffice or LibreOffice problem.

Weird since the printer will print pdfs, but not odt formats.
If PDF printing still works, you can use File → Print → PDF → Open in Preview, then use Preview's File → Print to print the PDF. If Preview can't print the PDF, you have a MacOS problem or a hardware problem.

i guess I'm at the end of the road for that printer on Monterrey?
I had a scanner which a new version of MacOS could not use, and found the scanner's vendor had removed
all the drivers for that model from their website. I wasn't surprised that the vendor didn't want to support it, since the model was fairly old. This is the reality of hardware support now.
