Printer not supported after MacOS 12 upgrade

Post by ronlevy111 »

Recently upgraded to Mac Monterrey.
Open Office always returns error message that I need to upgrade/install software for the Brother L2315D printer.
I have all current software for this printer installed.
Everything else on computer prints fine, including test prints, etc.
Have current Apache 4.1.13.
Any ideas anyone??

Edit: Changed subject, was Unable to print after MacOS upgrade

These are MS/Mac related softwares or there are working others too?

Have current Apache 4.1.13.
Any ideas anyone??
Try the LibreOffice. At least a portable version of it. The LO has a higher compatibility with the continuously developed/improved operating systems.

We (at my company) have Brother 'all-in-one' Black&White laser printers. They work fine with LibreOffice 6.1.6 on Windows 10

Try the other printer dialog.
Q35: Why doesn't my print dialog look like examples in posts on the forum?

Try printing via the PDF dialog.
Q36: PDF creation does not work the way I want. What alternative do I have?

I have a Brother printer and can print with it using OpenOffice 4.1.7 on MacOS 10.14.6.

thanks for quick responses.

MrProgrammer: Yes I did read the printer dialog all questions...tried checking box for Print Dialogs in AOO Preferences Q35 (it was unchecked) but no luck.

Tibor: I'll try LibreOffice and post a reply if that works or not.

LibreOffice looks great but it still doesn't print to the Brother L2325D.
I'm getting more apps now saying I need to download updates to the printer but there aren't any more. Weird since the printer will print pdfs, but not odt formats.
i guess I'm at the end of the road for that printer on Monterrey?
Maybe it's a 64 bit issue with the older printer and new Mac OS. Seems there would be a patch or update for that.

Can you test it with some other printers?

Then this printer problem would not be an OpenOffice or LibreOffice problem.

If PDF printing still works, you can use File → Print → PDF → Open in Preview, then use Preview's File → Print to print the PDF. If Preview can't print the PDF, you have a MacOS problem or a hardware problem.

I had a scanner which a new version of MacOS could not use, and found the scanner's vendor had removed all the drivers for that model from their website. I wasn't surprised that the vendor didn't want to support it, since the model was fairly old. This is the reality of hardware support now.
