Opening a text doc displays a page then exits

I have a an OpenOffice text doc which has been created about 3 years go and updated several times.
It is a large doc - 74kb, consisting of 81 pages.
Now, I am trying to edit it again and originally using Open Office 4.1.7, it would open the doc, display approximately page 46 on the screen then exit.
It would repeat no matter what else was running or how many times I tried.
I looked on the OpenOffice site, saw the current version was 4..14, installed that version and tried again.
It would create a ~lock .....odt file, display a little different page, then exit - consistently.
I tried opening previosuly saved versions - the same result.

I have been using Open Office for several years and this is now happening and cannot update my document as I cannot open it...

Can you upload the file here? To do that, click Post Reply then look for the Attachments tab just below the box where you type a response.

There may be some complex item that confuses AOO at some point.
Try a portable version of LibreOffice, it may be better to handle such case.
