[Solved] Mouse problems (ubuntu 20.04)

Post by robbyn »

I am finding it difficult to use Libre office. This is new. Not more than a few days.
I have a wide Speadsheet. If I drag the base bar with the mouse and I slip slightly off the bar line I find I open the sheet that it has moved to. In the past it would not do this but instead would continue to pull the bar provided I continued to hold the left button on my logitech mouse.

I have reinstalled Calc but it made no difference.

Any suggestions?

I don't see this happening in LO 7.2.5 on Ubuntu MATE 22.04. Have you tried a different mouse? The switches in the mouse do sometimes fail.

I do not have another mouse and as it did not look like it was a mouse problem I did not replace it. However, I followed your suggestion by disabling the mouse and cleaning the inside thoroughly with a small brush. I have just tested it on the spreadsheet and it no longer plays up. It works the way it should. Thank you.

There is another problem in that if I double click on a cell, it changes to the formulae. The formulae result does not reappear if I move to another cell. Instead it adds the address of the new cell into the formulae. It is this later effect that is a nuisance. I suspect it is an option setting, but I can not find one that matches it. Only if I hit escape, does the original cell revert to displaying the result. Do you recognise how to correct this behaviour?

As far as I know, that cannot be changed. See "Referenced edit mode" in:
