[Solved] Crop function greyed out

Post by undiscovered country »

Hi everybody,

I am using Libre Office 7.3 which I updated about two months ago from LO 6.3 on windows 10.

Today I opened a document which has a photo I pasted into it about three months ago. When I tried to use the crop function to crop the photo, I found the crop function greyed out and unusable. All of the items on the drop down table that opens when I click image to get the crop function, are greyed out. I've tried closing LO and reopening, but that doesn't work.

Could anybody tell me how to get the crop function working? Thanks.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi,
a sample file could answer some questions better...
I guess (!) you had inserted a bitmap image from Draw into Writer. "Regular" pasting an image from Draw into Writer is as a drawing format which hardly can be cropped. If you cut the image in Writer and (Paste Special) paste into Writer as a bitmap it could be cropped.

What kind of document?

If you're using Writer, the photo may be in a protected section.

Erbsenzahl,

Thanks for your help

It's embarrassing. All I had to do was check a photo in another doc   :knock:

You were correct, the crop function works with other photos.

Bill, thank you for your input, too.

Thanks to you both.

Sorry to bother you for something I could have worked out easily myself. I will update my profile, shortly.
