"Apache Office 4" from Amazon has stopped working

I got the program on Amazon in 2018, and it is great.
Limited use maybe 30 letters a year.
I also have a phone list that is 3 pages in length.
It will no longer let me open the file, to make changes.
When I go to the file it will show all three pages in an image page.
Question.
Does this age and just cannot compete with changes to the original porgram?
I got it on Amazon for under $15.
Should I just purchase a new disk or product key?

Whatever you bought on Amazon may be OpenOffice or something else planted on you by some scammer. The real OpenOffice is a free download from https://openoffice.org/
However, OpenOffice is almost dead by now. Its successor can be downloaded for free from https://libreoffice.org.

We can not know what's wrong with your phone list.

The phone list is a word document.
For example, City Hall - area code and seven digit number.

So, will try the libreoffice.org.

What is the type of the file, that is the three/four letter extension after the filename?

It would be helpful to have the main information from /Help /About OpenOffice.
