Functions and formulae translator
Functions and formulae translator
Hello,
Last year, i had created a file to translate formulae.
Now i want to translate explanations and comments and i need your help.
The sentences to be translated are In the last sheet (called UI). Translation has to be made in the cell just below the french sentence.
I want a translation in English, German & Spanish. So if french speaking can help me...
For the German and Spanish, may be you can wait for an english version and base your translation on.
Thanks in advance.
Gérard.

Re: Functions and formulae translator
Here is a proposal for English, if an English user could have a look to correct it, that would be great.
I've to admit that I haven't really understood the part about installing a new language (especially the "copy" range to be copied and pasted).

Thanks for your work.
With this, i saw few mistakes needed to be corrected in my formulae.
You change User Interface in Tools > Options > Language settings.
Range name "Copy" (column D sheet lang_pack) contains Functions names in Australian.
You copy this range and paste in the last colum of sheet Liste_fonctions.
And you have a new language for Function names.
Bad example, i think Australian used English names.

If you have severals langpacks (for example Australian langpack).Hagar de l'Est wrote: I've to admit that I haven't really understood the part about installing a new language (especially the "copy" range to be copied and pasted).

OK, I see. A screenshot would be useful I guess (showing the 'copy' string in the name box.
Note that there is no equivalent to "Chaîne de caractères", it's only "Text".

Re: Functions and formulae translator
You could perhaps use "sequence of text characters", or "text string", or even "character string"

Yes, it is "text" in english and "texte" in french with LibO. I think it was "chaine de caractères" in previous version.Hagar de l'Est wrote:I mean in the options for paste special.
My mistake.

Re: Functions and formulae translator
Please allow me to offer an English translation. My native language is English (central United States). This is based on Hagar's translation but I have updated sheet UI cells G8, H8, U8, AH8, AI8, B14, B20, B26, B32, B38, B44, B50, B62, B68, I80, B92, F92, I92, I98, G104, B116, I116, B122, I122, B128, I128, B134, A138, B138, A139, B139, A140, and A141.
In B134 I changed the cell name from E7 to F7. I believe you want that in other languages, too.
I also added instructions for Mac users in several places.
In sheet liste fonctions, I updated a few of the names in column D to include the _ADD suffix.
Thank you for providing this spreadsheet. I'm sure others will find it helpful. Volunteers here will be able to use it to assist people who use a non-English locale.

Re: Functions and formulae translator
I don't have time to read all your changes, but many thanks for this.
Now, if i could have translation in German (and spanish) it would be nice.
After, I will make some adjustments and this spreadsheet will be ready for use.

For the casual reader. I know it is not the same:

Re: Functions and formulae translator
You'll want to turn on Format > Cells > Alignment > Wrap for cell F9. The user can't do it because the cell is protected.

New file in the 1st post with modifications.
If you want to modify or have a look at formulae, password for this one is "Calc" (without quotes).
