3.0.1 has been released!

Post by DaveD »

The final 3.0.1 release is out now on January 25th, two days earlier then the January 27th date which it was expected. I'm not sure yet if it is the same as RC2, but I will post back on that.

EDIT: Interesting... the installer is different in size (win32) by 5KB from RC2 installer. However, soffice build version is exactly the same. So somehow, something changed while they were repacking the installer for final. Who knows. Build is the same anyways.

EDIT2: Just did a file comparison between both installers once extracted and every single file was the same in size at least. So I suppose it was just the packing options used.

Hi all!

Just installed 3.0.1 - and found a problem. Printing from calc does not work. Printing from Writer is OK.

There was a problem with the new version of JRE on the Windows/ JRE version and the had to revert to an older version.

Is there some place I can go to see what changed in 3.0.1? I just installed it, and I found the "Save as..." is different. It no longer shows the list of files in the directory to which the save will take place. Not a bad thing, just different.

I was curious if a bug I found was fixed. How would I find out?

Thanks,
Chris

That is strange. Because I see no difference in the "Save as"-feature from earlier versions of OOo. Or am I that short of memory? :?

You can find release notes here: http://development.openoffice.org/releases/3.0.1.html . There also bugfixes are listed.

I don't see any difference in the 3.0.1 Save As dialog using Windows or OOo dialogs.

You found a bug? Then see [Tutorial] Reporting bugs or suggestions. If it has not been reported, then do it. Once the bug report is filed, devs will comment it to give the status. And when it's fixed, you'll know.

If you search the Issue Tracker and there is not hit, don't forget to run another query on the Verified and Closed reports to avoid missing a bugs that has just been fixed.

If you find a bug but nobody reports it, very few chances that it will be handled!

Actually, nothing should have changed for 3.0.1--it's a bug fix release, and new features are not added to bugfix releases.

What issue are you interested in?

If an issue is fixed, it will have a comment added saying that the fix has been "Verified": that the fix is present in a particular build of OOo and that the fix actually fixes the problem. Once the fix is verified, someone will change the status to 'FIXED'.

That still does not mean that the fix will appear in the next release of OOo. You have to look at the "Target" indicated in the issue to see when the fix is scheduled to be released.

A big thank you for version 3.01.

1. it seems, the updated version has kept all my personal preferences in memory - Great!
2. OO 3.0 was very slow in several times: not always but from time to time, whilst opening a file, saving, etc. 3.0 did a lot of reading and writing on the HD, this seems fixed. (or will it come again, after working some time with 3.01?)
