While I think I understand what you're trying to do, my lack of knowledge regarding the UNIQUE function in Google may mean that my understanding is incorrect. Can you tell us where in the Google spreadsheet the UNIQUE function is placed? If it's A2 (as I suspect), then you might want to reconsider u...

I'm not an expert with pivot tables, but for future reference please include a copy of your actual spreadsheet (confidential information removed), rather than a picture. We can get a lot more information from the spreadsheet than what a picture gives us.

Re: Autosum acting weird
Autosum, by default, will not include the results of a previous sum function.
Exactly how it finds the first cell to use for the sum range, I don't know, but I do know that if there is a cell with a SUM function in it, the cell below it will be the first cell that is included in the Autosum.

Killing a task forces the task to close no matter what processes are taking place. Using the proper close procedure will remove the lock file as that is part of the closure procedure. Why are you using a command line sequence to force close (kill) soffice when your profile indicates that you are usi...

Welcome to the Forums. As your sheet is currently configured, vlookup will not work, since you are wanting to search B/C and return A Vlookup will search A and return from B/C One option is to move (or copy) A to D, the you can use two Vlookups (one for B and one for C) to return from D, which is (n...

If it is your choice, then that's what it is. There's rarely a right or wrong way of doing something especially when there are multiple methods of obtaining the same results. Re: Saving to CSV inserts spaces before numbers
I don''t know if this is the reason, but years ago (ie: 1980's) positive numbers and zero had a space in front of them to allow for the sign location, even though the sign + isn't seen. I suggest that this might be the reason, even though it's been around for quite a while. What happens if you try a...

Re: Create 2nd sheet of ONLY those Records that match on 1st sheet
Try Data -> Filter -> Standard Filter
There's an option to copy matches to a different location, which can be a different sheet.
Unfortunately I don't have access to my version of OpenOffice so I can't look at your sample or tell you exactly what I think your best option will be.

Re: String as zero in calculations
The SUM function knows to treat text as a 0 value. Using straight addition does not have this ability. You stated tbat you have very long formulas that sum ranges, which made me think that you were using the SUM function, rather than an extended sequence of cell addresses separated by the + symbol. ...

Re: String as zero in calculations
I suggest updating your software to the most recent version.
For years functions like SUM ignore text/treat it like a 0 when the text is in a cell that is in the SUM range.
OpenOffice 1.1.5 was released Sept. 14, 2005. That was (about) 17 1/2 years ago.

Since there is nothing wrong with the format of the formula, I suspect that the problem lies in the data. Please note that the = comparison is very specific and Calc might see something that doesn't match when, to your eyes it is a match. Example $1234.56 could be 1234.56 formatted in currency or a ...
