Re: Convert server database to embedded
Thanks! Your suggestion in the main is what I already run. I will attempt to explore further, it seemed to me that the zipped .odb of a server database when unzipped has some content radically different from that of an embedded. I've been looking for a tweak to map one to the other. I am obliged for...

Convert server database to embedded
Yes, I know this is backwards... My aim (need) is to take a copy, like backup of script, database, properties, from the server instance and create from it an embedded instance. The reason is for offline work, trial data, demonstrations, and so on (every time I start the hsqldb service I'm in the hab...

Re: Some detail on Profile Corruption and the regmod.xcu fil
After writing the above I renamed LO's registrymodifications.xcu to fred.xml and opened it with an XML editor. It started with valid XML, then had lots of seemingly random text (not binary, non printing characters) and then more valid XML. I have no idea what the random text is. I'm pretty sure an ...

Re: Some detail on Profile Corruption and the regmod.xcu fil
I'm pretty sure registrymodifications.xcu stores some or most of the AOO set up values like inches or mm, whether navigator is docked, whether ruler is visible etc. It also stores past opened file paths, many more than appear in the Recent files list. I don't think it has anything to do with macros...

Re: Some detail on Profile Corruption and the regmod.xcu fil
User profile corruptions are usually in \Config folder and replacing it alone often fixes the profile. \Basic stores your macros. It is much more unusual for registrymodifications.xcu to get corrupted. Just delete it and a new one will be created. The new one will be less than 20kB but will grow to...

Re: Some detail on Profile Corruption and the regmod.xcu fil
I agree pretty well with your analysis. I don't remember if I ever tried to repair a profile by simply renaming the .xcu file. Note that for the macros, being fed up with the reinstallation process, I ended up with building an extension (.oxt) to package them. When I do a change in the code, I expo...

Some detail on Profile Corruption and the regmod.xcu file
Hello. Background I use bits of AOO, mainly Base and Calc, for an annoyingly complex personal accounting system. The OS is W10x64, on life support because the lappie is unfit to go to W11. So generally I'm avoiding upgrades and the windows update is supposed not to start without permission. The othe...

Re: OpenOffice keeps crashing on Windows 10
"Can that be installed concurrently with OpenOffice to check it out?"
Beware file associations: this may be old information, YMMV, etcetera, but I installed LO and it promised to leave the file assocs alone and hey presto! all the OO file types were changed to LO.
Just 2p.

Re: The driver class org.hsqldb.jdbcDriver could not be load
OpenOffice for Windows is a 32-bit application. It can not interface with a 64-bit Java. Download a 32-bit Java and point OpenOffice to it. Usually, it can be found in C:\Program Files(x86)\ https://libreoffice.org/ is availlable for Windows as 64-bit software. => see executive summary at end of po...

Re: The driver class org.hsqldb.jdbcDriver could not be load
Thanks, Villeroy. Of course, you are correct. I was trying to save time by cloning an existing. Wasting time, in the end. If I can get a break from ongoing fixes, etc., I may well try LO. Previously it seemed that it has quicker support; although I can't complain, you are on the ball with this one. ...

The driver class org.hsqldb.jdbcDriver could not be loaded
Apologies, there are many posts on this topic but none hit the button exactly. I've created a server database in AOO4.1.6 on HSQLDB2.5.0 Win10 Home Prem I've a heap of these running my accounts system with live & various test regimes so the technicalities are fine but on this occasion there is a...

Thanks to you I have managed to figure this out for my own needs (max, min of column values to establish good y axis max and min on automated charts).
Grateful Thanks

Re: Change plot LineColor in Calc, sometimes useless
Yup, I have the same problem. I posted on Bugzilla but they obsoleted it. Not sure why as I supplied test results. The issue for me is that I can choose colours for the first two lines, after that the colours revert to the installed table. Line 3 has colour 1 from the table, etc. This applies to a b...

@RoryOF "Try starting Windows in Safe mode, then run OO. If OO runs stable in that mode you should look for some program/driver that runs in Windows normal mode that interferes with OO." Yup, I did think about this. But then I thought about it a bit more and wondered how much work it would...

Re: [Solved] OpenOffice keeps crashing when I try to use it
My belief is that there is a race condition which, whether or not it's that, is most prevalent at startup (opening calc or base). That term applies to two parallel processes which do not synchronise but should. If the wrong one gets there first you can have a problem. I believe the term "thread...

[Solved] Multiple Sheets derived from AOO dbase Truncated
[solved] from several attempts to work through this, all ending with the same result, it seems that the Basic engine is reusing a variable value from the last instance in the previous loop and there is no way to subvert this. It's NOT a solution but the whole thing is being re-engineered as most of ...

Re: Spreadsheet charts one page multiple sources
From Villeroy, The error message about the "invalid data series index" should be as clear as possible for you. I can only guess that you are trying to access obj.getByIndex(x) although there is no element x in obj. Indeed, I had a dim without the array suffix and replaced with Dim RangeAdd...

Really, I am stuck on an understanding UNO issue. Clearly I have an index out of bounds but with all the complications of the UNO structures it's not easy to know where to start. TLDR: Macro to read 10 views from AOO BASE database and display as 10 charts "en echelon" on first spreadsheet. Run through a master table containing colours and text for each account (1 to 10) and for each account collect data from a View ending in 1 to 10. This is to provide an easy visu...
