Re: Cannot use Bauhaus font
If this is an Adobe Type 1 font, I suggest looking for a ttf format version, or similar format of a close equivalent, and installing that.

Re: Split large book file into 2 odt files
It may not be good to split the book at Total_Pages / 2; better to find a logical splitting point near that value, and there split into two volumes, adding a suitable title or volume page(s), and perhaps a table of contents, to the second half.

On the "Full Editor" screen (button at bottom of Quick Reply screen) or the "Post Reply" screen, below the Submit button, you will see a tab "Attachments". Click on that and you will be able to upload your damaged file.

Please upload your damaged file either to the Forum or to a file sharing site (please post the URL), so that it can be examined and hopefully repaired.
Note: such error usually occurs when a Writer file has been edited also in MS Word and a comment extended over a text range deleted.

Re: Slide show Writer
Make a PDF from the recipe file, then show it one page at a time in a PDF Reader. Or write (or Cut and Paste) your recipes into Impress. Or put your recipes in a database, and display them using a suitable form.

Re: ods file error
John_Ha analysed this problem; from memory, his finding was that OpenOffice does not issue a "do not shut down just yet" warning to the operating system, which would prevent it shutting down until all was OK. But it must be said, the needed delay is minuscule - a matter of seconds; the pro...

Re: ods file error
OpenOffice files are complex, being composed of a number of items. They take some time to build, and if the computer is powered off too quickly such as by shutting a laptop lid, or crashes, there may not be sufficient time for the computer to build the output file or for it to be flushed from the so...

I agree with floris v: the file is badly corrupted. Best to use a utility such as Recuva or PhotoRec to see if a hidden temporary file can be recovered. Do this as soon as possible.

Re: Format error in sub-document context.xml
Once or twice on Forum we have come across content.xml being merely style definitions. I think it is probably caused by over-hasty close down of the computer, before the file has been fully generated and written to disk. An outside chance: there might be a deleted work file on the disk drive. Worth ...

Select the cell, then put an = sign before the formula when it shows in the Formula bar. You may beed to turn on /;View /Formula Bar to see the Formula bar.You may (I'm not not certain) need to bracket the complete expression, viz.:
=(sin(90) +cos(30)/3)
=(sin(90) +cos(30)/3)

It may be that a hard disk (i.e., a real disk drive, not an SSD) will have deleted copies of the required file. As soon as may be use a recovery app such as PhotoRec or Recuva to search for deleted files, which will show up under arbitrary names and file types; you will need to examine these to deci...

Re: Delay opening documents
It can also happen that a document is not in OpenOffice's native format, hence must be translated to that on opening. Some translation, which occur in the background on opening, can be fast, but the process of editing can increase the size/complexity of a document so that on a new opening of it, for...

Your file is most probably damaged by possibly an error in transmission to/from the OneDrive. If you have a local hard disk copy, try that instead of he OneDrive version.

In A13 enter =A11+A12
If you wish A12 to be increased by the value in A11, this is equivalent to A12 equaling A11+A12 - a circular reference, which in spreadsheets is not allowed

Re: Spellcheck & synonyms
An un- and re-install of OpenOffice does not remove the OpenOffice User Profile, which is where a spellcheck problem resides. It is necessary, as the links from LastUnicorn tell, to remove or rename the OpenOffice User Profile, and an un-/re-install of OpenOffice is then rarely necessary. Once the O...

Exactly so: I have several documents that are 2,000-3,000 pages. More than that may start to run slow.
