In A13 enter =A11+A12
If you wish A12 to be increased by the value in A11, this is equivalent to A12 equaling A11+A12 - a circular reference, which in spreadsheets is not allowed

Re: Spellcheck & synonyms
An un- and re-install of OpenOffice does not remove the OpenOffice User Profile, which is where a spellcheck problem resides. It is necessary, as the links from LastUnicorn tell, to remove or rename the OpenOffice User Profile, and an un-/re-install of OpenOffice is then rarely necessary. Once the O...

Re: Limited space in each document one create?
@floris v: thank you for the reminder in the above post that the keys are Shift Enter, not Ctrl Enter. I have corrected my posts accordingly.

Re: Limited space in each document one create?
Exactly so: I have several documents that are 2,000-3,000 pages. More than that may start to run slow. If the Ctrl Enter Shift Enter characters are coming from imported documents, then you should use /Edit /Paste special : unformatted text. If you have existing documents using Ctrl Enter Shift Enter...

Re: Limited space in each document one create?
When you get to a paragraph end, do you press Enter, or Ctrl Enter Shift Enter? In OpenOffice one rarely needs to use Ctrl Enter Shift Enter [Read: do not use Ctrl Enter Shift Enter until you know exactly what you are doing]. Use of Ctrl Enter Shift Enter in place of Enter to mark end of paragraphs ...

The Word Count status bar controller at

writes a word count for a Writer document to the Status Bar. Careful examination of its code may be of assistance.

Re: Installed new components, Impress text invisible
I tried Hagar's 2x suggestion, which is accessed in Xubuntu by Settings : Appearance : Settings tab : Window Scaling. It left my system in a confused state and I was not able to use the same settings to revert to 1x and needed to reboot with a ctrl key sequence (Alt F4). A reboot is what the Help su...

It might help to adjust your screen resolution when editing to (say) 1280 x 1024. I sometimes have to do this when using a 12" screen (1920 x 1080) laptop.
My preference is make or edit presentations etc on my desktop with multiple screens.
I must investigate Hagar;s 2x suggestion.

The OpenOffice interface can be adjusted by /Tools /Options /OpenOffice : View. Scaling may be changed between 80 and 130%, either by direct entry of the value or by the up/down arrow. Icon size can be changed Large/Automatic/Small.

Re: Booklet wants to print on wrong size paper
The booklet printing option does two important things: It automatically scales the page of text to fit on the "half -sized" sheet of the finished booklet and then also gives the correct layout of the pages front and back for the printer to print on the uncut sheets of paper. In a folded bo...

Re: Booklet wants to print on wrong size paper
This looks like a printer driver problem, specific to Macs. Ideally the Print Properties should show the paper size the printer thinks it is using. When you print a standard portrait letter page (single sided), what does the Printer Properties button tell about the paper size? If it says "legal...

Re: Booklet wants to print on wrong size paper
This posting of mine, in an earlier booklet thread, gives some information on scaling sizes for US brochure size.
viewtopic.php?p=370148#p370148
Normally if a printer takes "legal" that input tray can also be adjusted to take A4 and US Letter.

Re: Booklet wants to print on wrong size paper.
I haven't access to a Mac, but in Linux, and I think Windows, in the Print screen there should be a Properties button. When that is pressed, one should select "letter" (in most of world A4, when printing to A5 booklet), and Landscape or Horizontal paper position (words differ according to ...

In the actual file try clicking on the borders of that white area, which are visible in your screenshot If you get green handles when you do so, press Delete, or right click and select delete from the popup context menu.

The white block is narrower than the image, so looks to be unrelated to the image. A sample file will be the quickest way to a solution.

My experiments with Annotations (not in this thread) showed that all attempts to handle annotations (whether by extraction or merely listing) returned the Annotation nearest the end of the file, then all other annotations in order from the beginning of the file. Hubert Lambert suggested sorting them...

For general information:
many of the Moderators and Volunteers on this forum find
https://www.deepl.com/translator
provides a good translation of postings.
There is also
translate.google.com
which offers a wider range of languages but perhaps not as nice a translation as deepl.com.
