Re: [Solved] Square root display problem in Impress

On my system and the go-oo version the sqareroot (and braces) are distorted if hardware acceleration is selected in "tools->options->view". If it is unselected, everthing displays normally. in the official Version, the box is always greyed and hardware acceleration cannot be selected at al...

Hi tjkopena, just like acknack, I never found the behaviour you decribe in any OOversion (up to OODEV3.2m6) in a newly created Openoffice presentation(using ubuntu, presently on karmic). I did find ,however, effects similar to the one you describe in presentations, that I initially created in powerp...

hi, unfortunately playing media directly in impress is still some sort of adventure(sometimes works moreless in one version, sometimes not in the next and vice versa, in any case you have to do some fiddling around with the jmf). As a workaround so far I recommend to call the video file as an "...

Hi all, this seems to be a bug of the intermediate Openoffice-Version 3.1 that comes with ubuntu intrepid. The newest OO-version from the OO-website doesn't have this bug any more. If you install that one in place of the repository version however, you exchange this bug against some other one's that...

Re: Embed a set of dynamic calc charts in impress

From the menu:
Insert -> Object -> OLE Object -> Select "Spreadsheet" and "Create from File and mark "link" , then select your Spreadsheet.
Now just doubleclick the chart and move the window of the shown part to the chart.

Re: slow and jerky animations

Hi, I was wrong in the last posting  , it is not a matter of formats or retyping. It is a matter of having other objects in front! Animations run more smoothly, if the textbox is lying on top. If other textfields are arranged in front of the animated one(regardless of position, overlap is not ...

Hi there, my Problem: I am using impress for more that two years now for lots of lecture presentations and have lately changed to a 1 kg-netbook with lower processor power for presentations. Re: Please help write user guide info on sound and video

Hi, I am using video and sound a lot in presentations under linux ubuntu. I have the feeling that in OO3.x there is not a problem of writing a guide, there is a problem of having it run at all. I have spent hours and hours trying to get it work, sometimes it does -a little bit(like playing newly ins...

Perhaps you updated to OO3.0 ? Downgrading to 2.4 might help! I had no troubles with sound and videos in OO2.4 under Linux-Ubuntu (after massaging the jmf somewhat like stated in past threads). Now in OO3.0 the multimedia features seem to be broken for me and old impress presentations cause a hard c...

Re: Insert a movie in Impress: what if i move it?

Hi Cedivad, as far as I know, impress doesn't embed media files. (I personally think that it is good to do it that way, since a big video on your disk is a video and should not be camouflaged to be a fat presentation....) To solve your problem, you could pack the presentation and the video into one ...

Re: Move Object on mouseclick

Hi,
You can just use the animation path "freeform line" and stack the movements on top of each other.
I'll attach the sample presentation "workday" (made in OOO3.0_rc1).
As far as I remember, the freeform line animation works since OOO2.4.(not shure though)

Re: Scanned Image - poor quality

Hi sanderja and jill, I agree that it is a pity, that antialiasing of vector- and pixelgraphics has not been implemented yet in open office. The degree of annoyance depends strongly on the format of the image you embed. if you embed pictures scanned in black and white or in an indexed color scale, t...

Hi there, a workaround might be to produce the drawings in inkscape (or export the OO-drawing to svg-format and then import into inkscape). Inkscape does antialiasing perfectly and you can export to pixelgraphics in very good quality. I have been doing this once in a while, but (for me at least)it i...

Re: Growing CPU usage in Impress

Hi there,

if you are using 2.3.0, I am pretty shure the bug responsible is the one mentioned also in the posting:
http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/ ... f=10&t=375

Try upgrading to 2.3.1 or 2.4 rc1 - the defect should be gone then.
