[Solved] OpenOffice stuck in Recovery Mode

Post by Sadie49 »

Hi. In jargon I can understand (!!) could some technophobe help me get rid of the reoccurring Open Office Recovery Mode each time I attempt to open a saved document? I've tried everything inc. uninstall and reinstall but nothing helps. I write for pleasure and am worried that unless I sort this something nasty could happen! :knock:

Thank you in advance for any help. :bravo:

When it prompts for Recovery, and you have tried to recover without success, simply press Cancel and it will not prompt again for that file.

Yu should consider installing and using the Timed/Dated backup utility, download from
http://flowcont.hu/LO_oxt_store/oxt/tim ... v1-2-2.oxt

Note that this does not replace the normal Save mechanism - it must be separately invoked, either from its toolbar icon or its entry on /File menu.

I've tried that avenue it doesn't work sadly. The Cancel Button I mean. It recovers the blank document but I have do it everytime I want to open File. Means I can't send files as an email attachment as the recipient doesn't always know how to go to next and Recover.

Try to reset your Open/LibreOffice user profile. There may be some remains in the registrymodifications.xcu file.

If no change, try LibreOffice, much less of such bugs.

Please add [Solved] at the beginning of the title in your first post (top of the topic) with the 🖉 button if your issue has been fixed.

This actually comes up as can't download as a corrupt or unsafe file.

I've solved the nasty little bug by uninstalling Open Office and installing Libre Office. All docs are now saved in Word and going great. I did make a voluntary contribution by way of appreciation. Thanks to all who stopped by to help.
