[Solved+Issue] Change icon style

Post by Ponny »

Meow

I don't know is there separate forum for LibreOffice, but I can't find it.

I want to change icon style in whole LibreOffice. Versino 7.2.7.2.
Because default icon style is awful.
Tolls / Options / View - Button "Icon Style"
is inactive. You can beat him, but he do nothing.

There are two buttons. One to list the installed icon styles and one to add more icon styles. Do both not work for you?

I tried LO 7.2.5 and the button that opened the drop down list of installed icon styles worked, but the button to add new icon styles did nothing. To add new icon styles, go to https://extensions.libreoffice.org/ . Download and install the extension for the icon style you want to add. Restart LO. You should then be able to use the new icon style by selecting it from the drop down list of installed icon styles.

Adding new icon styles by using Tools > Options > LibreOffice > View > Icon style: Add more icon themes via extension has some bugs. It will only work if a document is open. It won't work from the Start Center. There's no feedback to let the user know an extension is being downloaded or when the installation is finished or that a restart is needed.

Bug 140919 - [UI][Configuration]"Add more icon themes via extension" does not work if no document is open

This is a common forum for AOO/LO, but there is an another users-help-users site:

I downloaded 3 new icon styles and then installed.
But now I can't find drop down list for selecting icon style.
After every installed style I got a message - question for restart Lo. That means, style is really installed.

Is it not at Tools > Options > LibreOffice > View > Icon style?

This is this. Sorry, it is Slovenian language, and I can't find the way to change user interface language to English.

Maybe there is a huge error in the 7.2.7 version. I just installed the PortableApps version of it (with Hungarian localised settings), and the LO 7.2.7 is crashed, when I tried to click on View item in the Tools - Options - LibreOffice menu item. All of the other item can work in the menu Tools - Options - LibreOffice menu, but the View not.
Same, when i change tha LANGUAGE and LOCALE SETTINGS to English.

Resetting the User profile can not help in this case...

I just tried:
The View menu item is appeared and works without crashing in my Portable LO 7.3.0 and in LO 7.2.6 versions.

You can download them from the archive (even the portable vesions too.):

It is in your menu Tools > Options > Language settings, User interface (English translation of your Slovenian menu of course).

Now I upgraded LO to versino 7.3.5.2. At the install process I selected English and Sloveninan language for user inteface for installl.

Now I can change user interface language to english. And now I have drop down list with installed icon styles. Now I can change icon style.

But, hm, If I want to change icon style, I have to change user interface language to English, then change icon style, and back to Slovenian user interface. This is - hm - a little bit strange.

I thought that the English language was included by default whatever the localization.

Not sure if it is a limitation with the icon style (in this case you could ask the maintainer of the pack) or if it comes from the LO code (in this cas you can try the LO dev mailing list).

Yes, it is strange. Your uploaded screen shot shows a window which is much too narrow and is missing at least 6 drop-down lists which should be down the middle of the window. Try making the window wider to see if the lists appear.

I tried running the AppImage version of LO 7.3.1.3 which includes all interface language. The drop-down lists appeared with the interface language in Slovenian and Hungarian as well as English (USA).

Yes, the AOO has only 32 bit version. And the portable versions are 32 bit only - if I know it exacly.

32 bit versions can run on a 64 bit op. sys., but the 64 bit can not run on a 32 bit op. sys.
The 32 bit version requires 32 bit Java even if it is installed on a 64 bit op. sys. The Java dependency is extremely minimalized by the developers in the LibreOffice, but there are Java based third party extensions...

The are not other differences - I hope it.

Yes! That's it!
If I stretch the window wide, it magically appears missing dropdown lists.
But I need to do this every time at opening this window. A little bit strange.

This appears to be the unconfirmed bug reported 20 Apr 2021 in LO 7.1.0.0.alpha0+ that affects some languages in Windows. I can't duplicate it in Linux:

Bug 141778 - Icon style selection widget not displayed in some language versions (such as Czech and Greek)
