[Solved] Change working directory on open

Post by 140968 »

Hi community,

I`ve been working for quite a while with OOo and appreciate it. Thanks a lot! But since I had to switch to Win 10 after my win2000 PC burned through in 2021 I experience problems when saving files that are opened by doubleclick in windows explorer. When chosen "save as..." these file are saved in a directory recently used for saving and not in the directory, where the file is opened from.

Is this a known problem or is my OO-Installation flawy? Or is this by purpose?

Thanks for any help to fix this.

AOO (OOo disappeared years ago) offers the last folder you saved to when you save a file. Just navigate elsewhere... Do some simple experiments.

Showing that a problem has been solved helps others searching so, if your problem is now solved, please view your first post in this thread and click the Edit button (top right in the post) and add [Solved] in front of the subject.

See the Writer Guide, the Writer FAQ, the Writer Tutorials and Writer for students.

Remember: Always save your Writer files as .odt files. - see here for the many reasons why.

Ok, so this is on purpose. In my case it would be very helpful for avoiding mistakes, if somebody could add a switch, to toggle this behaviour, so this value just remains unset. Perhaps this could be a suggestion?

Perhaps it could be, if it were in the relevant place. We are all users here and not in a position to, and probably don't have the skills to, implement changes in the programming.
