Font Colours Change when printed
Using Writer to make document with two different font colours. Different paragraphs have different colours. Colours appear correct on computer screen. However when printed the grey is fine, but the Turquoise 3 colour appears randomly in 3 different shades. One paragraph for example looks more blue, whereas others look more green. Have printed as pdf and odt - same thing happens.

Re: Font Colours Change when printed
How is that colour defined? In the Style, or by direct formatting? What happens if you change the Turquoise 3 to a main colour - say Green or Blue?
What make/model of printer is used?

Sounds like a problem with the colour ink cartridges. Clean the nozzles and reseat the cartridges. Print a test page - see the printer manual or ask Ms Google to find one for you.

As far as I know colour is defined by direct Formatting ie I select text, then click down arrow on A button and select colour, and thereafter select text and click on A button.RoryOF wrote:How is that colour defined? Printer is an HP Colour Laser Jet Pro MFP M277
Printing on the Laser Jet with Green 1 was fine - all paras same green.
Just printed original with Turquoise 3 on old Canon MX850 inkjet printer and colour is consistent also.

Re: Font Colours Change when printed
Please check each of the areas of coloured text in turn: select some text in that area and use /Format /Character : Font effects tab Font colour to verify that it definitely says Turquoise 3 for each area.

All correct except one paragraph which I corrected, but on printing on Laser printer 3 paras still have a more greenish tinge.RoryOF wrote:Please check each of the areas of coloured text in turn: select some text in that area and use /Format /Character : Font effects tab Font colour to verify that it definitely says Turquoise 3 for each area.

Thank you for responding. The test page is fine. Also the colours vary from paragraph to paragraph on the same page, so I don't think the issue can be with the inks?John_Ha wrote:Sounds like a problem with the colour ink cartridges. Re: Font Colours Change when printed
A HP M277 is a laser printer, so clogged ink cartridges or nozzle fluff are not in question.
I suggest you define a style for your coloured paragrarphs - this casn be based on the normal text paraagraph style; in that style, in the font effects tab, set font colour to be Turquise 3 and apply that style to the paragraphs in question, after having removed any direct formatting. This ensures that the three paragraphs have exactly the same parameters applied.
It is not unusual for a colour printer to give slightly different colour rendering than a monitor - matching colour renderings is tricky - but the rendering from the printer should be consistent within areas of that colour. Might it be that the toner cartridges are nearly empty - if one, often the yellow, is nearly empty, it may start out applying all the colour contribution requested, then starve, causing the colour to change as the page is printed.
Printing a printer status page will tell if the cartridges are in good condition or not.

Please upload a small .odt file showing the problem so that it can be analysed. Use the Upload attachment tab below where you type (128 kB max); or use a file share site, Dropbox or Google Drive for a larger file.
Also you say "Have printed as pdf and odt - same thing happens." That is ambiguous. We need to know what the PDF itself look like when viewed. If the PDF looks like to document (ie it's OK) the problem lies with the printer. If the PDF looks like the printout (ie it's not OK) then it is the page which is at fault.

Whether I am formatting in .odt or .pdf the colours are accurate on my screen, but inaccurate on printing. Also you say "Have printed as pdf and odt - same thing happens." That is ambiguous. I can't yet work out how to do this. Will get some help and then get back to you. Re: Font Colours Change when printed
The document really has three shades of the Turquoise color, but I do not know, where they is in use.but the Turquoise 3 colour appears randomly in 3 different shades.
You can displayed the existing (used) colors by a new feature of the LibreOffice:
The colors of the document is formatted by direct (manual) formatting properties instead of the Styles.
There are paragraph styles in use, but the font colors are not assigned to the applied styles.

Re: Font Colours Change when printed
From what I can see all the turquoise text uses the same colour, a user defined colour #23b8dc. When I took a screen capture and checked with a colour picker tool all gave the same RGB value of [35, 184, 220] which is #23b8dc in CMYK.
The reason the colours look different is because the fonts and text sizes are different. A thin coloured line on a white background will look paler than a thick line of the same colour. Similarly, a small blob of colour will look paler than a large blob of the same colour. If you set all fonts to be identical and much larger size you will see that all colours are identical.
Don't forget that not all RGB (screen) colours have an exact CMYK (printed on paper) equivalent and that what you see on a screen for a small character is a mixture of many colours to approximate to the colour requested and to minimise edge pixelation effects.

Re: Font Colours Change when printed
As John_Ha says, different fonts are used and these contribute to the differing colour.
The lines Musiques..., Une heure..., Dimanche..., La Maison..., Maureillas
are all in Apple Chancery 16 pt Italic or Normal
All other colour lines are in Arial Bold 12.5 pt
Most of the black text is Arial 12.5 pt, both Bold and Normal, except for the Présente, avec and the list of names, which are YuGothic 14 Normal.
There is little reason to change the font famiies - I think they could all be replaced with the equivalent point sizes and font styles in Arial.
