[Issue] Inserting picture in database for mail merge

I want to insert photos into a database for use in mail-merged documents. I chose OBJECT as the likely field type. When I click to insert, the only choice given is Record.

There are a number of database/image facilities there.

I think no way in today's OOo mail-merge use image field.

See issue 18651, it is a long away requested feature seven years ago, and will not implemented in near future.
Only thing what you can do, register and vote on issue.

Only forms and Sun Report Builder reports can be used for inserting image to database, and retrieving it. Neither has mail-merge like capability.
