[Solved] Word Count includes certain symbols

Post by MissyM »

I have recently noticed that Word Count is counting pairs of certain symbols (most significantly quotation marks) as words. If instead of typing, I insert quotation marks as Special Characters, they are not counted as words.

Is there anyway to have Writer not count certain symbols in Word Count?

Ah! So I can just turn off the Custom Quotes. Excellent. I don't have much use of them anyway.

Sorry, I'm not sure that will help: (as I understand it) the problem is the typographic ("curly") quote characters: they will cause the same problem no matter if they are inserted manually or by the custom quotes feature.

Well, when I turn Custom off, the quotes AREN'T typographic anymore, at least not in the fonts I most often use. So it's working just fine now.
