[Solved] Document Locked by ...

Post by Mike 76 »

When opening files in OO Writer 3.4.0, originally composed in OO, I get message "Document file (path & name) is locked for editing by: (name of my old computer)". Then gives me the option to open a "read only" or a copy. Am using Windows 7 Home Premium Serv Pk 1. Documents are saved in .doc (97) format. I can open the document with Microsoft Office Starter 2010 with no problem. How do I get rid of this issue? Many thanks for any and all help!

Set your computer to show hidden files (I don't remember how to do that in Windows 7, but searching the Help files should tell you) and then look in the directory where the file is stored for files that start with .~lock. Delete those files and should not see the warning any more.
