[Solved] Restore windows bug on Mac 10.7.5

Post by usernamemurray »

Hi I'm struggling with the " restore windows " bug- mac 10.7.5 ( don't restore windows / restore windows buttons not responding )

I've tried the other fixes offered in the forum : but my trouble is i don't have a folder called " Saved Application State "

Delete the file "org.openoffice.script.savedState". It is located this folder: /Users/<user name>/Library/Saved Application State

and i followed the screen shot directions here : http://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/vi ... 55#p244931

I don't seem to have a folder named " Saved Application State " in my users/ library folder

any help hugely appreciated !! ( if this has already been answered somewhere then apologies in advance ! )

As far as I know, every other person with this problem has solved it by deleting their Mac's org.openoffice.script.savedState. It might be good to review the deletion procedure with a friend, since they might notice something that you have missed. Note that there are several Library folders on a Mac, so you must ensure that you have the correct one to find Saved Application State. You'll see in Bug 119006 - Restore windows problem on Mac OS X that both Chris and Scott report being unable to find the folder/file but later were able to do so. You're probably wondering "What were they doing wrong since maybe that's my trouble too?" but they didn't tell us. If you resolve the problem, other people in this situation will thank you if you post back here and explain how you resolved the difficulty.

You could check the topics below to see if any offer other solutions. Otherwise, do a web search for either "Saved Application State" or org.openoffice.script.savedState and look for other suggestions for solving problems with your Mac's Resume feature, since that is what's causing the message to appear.

If we have answered your question please go to your first post use the Edit button and add [Solved] to the start of the title. You can select the green checkmark icon at the same time.

Thank you mr programmer ! Ok so i just needed to hold down option once i was IN the go menu. Then the correct Library showed up ( but only for as long as i held down the option key ) - that's where i was getting caught out. Then I went into library and deleted the org.openoffice.script.savedState file. and all's well :) Gotta make sure you empty the trash so that sucker is fully deleted.

Thanks so much !

For me, org.openoffice.script.savedState is showing as a FOLDER (not a FILE). Am I to delete the whole FOLDER? Sorry if I'm an idiot, I just really don't want to do the wrong thing and screw up my wife's computer. Thanks for the help, -Michael

Yes, I am sure it said "Kind: Folder". I deleted the whole folder and it seems to have done the trick. Thanks much, -Michael
