Color not printing
I have a brand new Win 7 system with a freshly loaded OpenOffice 4 (all settings unmodified). System has an HP Color LaserJet installed. Client is converting from MS Works to OpenOffice on multiple networked machines. When I load Works files (xlr, doc) that have colored text, background, or cell color OO shows the colors properly, Print Preview shows the colors properly, but when printer there is never a color (straight black and white). I have review forum entries and checked recommendations (e.g. print configured to bring in gray scale or printer configured to print in black and white (not color) but the problem persists. Other applications are able to correctly print in color. It does not matter if I am printing from the system locally attached to the printer or from networked systems that share the printer. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi and welcome to the forum!
As a workaround, you can export to PDF and print that file.
You can perhaps try to reinstall your printer.

Re: color not printing
Thanks for the welcome. I have tried re-installation of the printer numerous times. It does print color correctly from other applications. The workaround is a good suggestion but awkward for this client. These files (1,200+) represent form letters, email templates, spread sheets that are updated daily and printer. A PDF conversion would be placed on the hard drive, have to find to print, then delete the file as accumulations would not be needed. It would be a hard sell but I will try later today when I again meet with the client.Hagar Delest wrote:Hi and welcome to the forum!

Re: Color not printing
Hi StevenFeld, thanks for reporting this. It will be hard to reproduce, so every additional hint will count.
- Does it happen with AOO341, too?
- Have you tried with anonther printer?
- Could you redirect the print output or create PS or something similar to have something to look at?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Color not printing
Hi StevenFeld,
another idea: Could you install on a configuration where it happens something like FinePrint and check if it gets the color? It's a printer tool which is visible as a printer in the system and shows what the app delivered for printing before sending it to the printer (and more). The trial version is free, so maybe you can have a look.

Hi StevenFeld,
even more stuff: It may even be related to the specific document, could you provide it somewhere eventually...?

Re: Color not printing
Got the same problem on LibreOffice 4.1.4 on Windows XP and Windows 8.1 64-bit. Got an .odt file with a table in it. After I press "print" it shows print preview with colors but the print is full-black (the text should be gray if it was grayscale but is black like when you print with "print text in black" option on; but this option is disabled). Export to PDF workaround is working but it's pretty annoying.
